Dr Who - dolls and Tardis

Early last year my son challenged me to make all 12 doctors.
As I had had success making the small dolls I decided I could make the Doctors with a modified pattern at that scale. By Easter I had just completed the first two. It was quite a fiddly job - especially making the tiny jackets and shirts.
They are about 20cms tall. When Phil visited at Easter he was quite impressed and said he would make them a TARDIS!

He arrived with the TARDIS at Christmas and here are his pictures.

The first Doctor. I had to make his jacket twice. It still looks a bit small.

The second Doctor.

The doctors meet!

Small Dolls - more pictures

Phil took some lovely photos of my small dolls. His more usual photos are here:

Small Dolls

I like working at quite a large scale and most of my dolls are between 46cm and 56cm tall. But in January 2014 I decided to try making some small dolls after I bought Sew A Small Doll and Her Clothing by Sherralyn St Clair.

So here they are;

I did find the small pieces much more tricky to work with and I had to alter the head pattern as I found it so difficult to attach to the neck. However I was very pleased with the result and the very clear instructions in the book.
This is Violet. The little pinafor dress was made from a pattern in the book and the red hooded jacket was knitted from patterns for Rosebud Twins from the nineteen-fifties. I love the cute pink trainers, adapted from a very good pattern in Sherralyn's book.
This is Walter. Jeans and trainers from patterns in the book and jumper, again from patterns for Rosebud Twins.

This one is Xander. Trousers, brown lace up leatherette shoes and knitted jacket as before. His T-shirt is made from the top of a sock.

Yasmin is wearing the pretty party dress from Sew A Small Doll.. with the jacket and boots also from the book.

And this is Zinnia. Her jeans are the same as Walter's, made in green cotton with decorative star buttons on the pockets. I created my own pattern for her blouse and hand painted the design.

Christmas Tree Dolls

I made these cute little dolls for Christmas 2013. The inspiration and patterns came from Felt Wee Folk by Salley Mavor.

And here they are on our tree.
