Lucy and Leila -two pretty little girl dolls

Lucy

Leila
Lucy in a two layer pink dress and Leila in a yellow smock top and jeans with appliqué  flowers.
Leila has a row of matching beads which cover the seam where her neck joins her body.
These are two of my favourite dolls. I loved making their hair.

First Holy Communion Dolls ~ Jacinta and Jerome

Jacinta and Jerome, my First Holy Communion dolls were made last Easter. I've got a bit slow at adding the pictures. The bodice of Jacinta's dress is hand embroidered with beads and heart shaped buttons.
Her braids didn't work out as well as I hoped but Jerome's neat cornrows look really good.

Guinevere - Queen of Camelot.

Guinevere, based on series 5 of the MERLIN TV series

I wasn't really happy with this doll. I've tried a completely new pattern here. It is a nice doll, dress is lovely, hair is wonderful but unfortunately she doesn't actually look like Guinevere. I found working on a small scale quite tricky especially when painting the face.
However my Gaius doll is coming along very nicely.

Isaac

Isaac is a cute little boy doll with big green eyes. His outfit was also made from the patterns in Classic Cloth Dolls. I used felt for the trousers which was really too thick and especially bulky around the waistband. His shirt is made from the same fabric as Isabella's dress. I had to remove the fleece backing from the collar. Nice little brown buttons were from a kit for making Christmas cards.

Isabella's outfit 2

For Isabella's dress I also followed the pattern in Linda Carr's book, Classic Cloth Dolls. The dress is made with some lovely red tartan fabric which is very warm as it has a fleece lining. The tucks on the bodice and skirt are trimmed with silver cord. The dress has navy blue lace at the neck, cuffs and around the skirt. It also has cream flower buttons down the back and on the neckband.

Isabella's outfit 1

Although I adapted the pattern for making the doll's body, I decided to dress her in the outfits which are given in Linda Carr's book. So these photos show Isabella in the set of underwear for which patterns are provided. These consist of a petticoat, camisole and bloomers. I had some very lightweight polycotton fabric with a tiny flower design which I used for these garments. I was lucky to pick up a selection of lace and ribbons at a charity sale which provided all the trimmings.
